Pentax turns on when battery was inserted just now. (battery was like $11 at Walgreen's if memory serves me)
Minolta has a 2CR5 battery pack inside the display turns on and blinks. When I unlocked the built in lens cover it started ticking and won't stop until I taken the battery out. Just observational from 5 minutes of monkeying around with it.
Both the Pentax and the Minolta battery compartments were corrosion free.
